Saving Brad Book Review

We get to meet Brad and Rachel in the first 3 books of the Kennedy Boy’s Series. There is just enough of a glimpse of their characters that you want to know more. You can tell these two have gone through a lot of stuff in their young lives that no one should ever have to go through. In this heart wrenching book from Siobhan Davis you get to see to young souls find each other, protect each other, heal each other and most of all fall in love with each other.

Brad is your all American heart throb and Kyler Kennedy’s best friend. Problem is he is in love with his besties girlfriend Faye.

Rachel is Faye’s best friend from back home in Ireland. She moves in with Faye to try and get her life back on track.
From the glimpse of the first 3 books we get to see that these two have chemistry, which sets the motion for Saving Brad. They love to hate each other, but when does the sniping and arguing turn into something more? They are both pulled to each other even though neither one wants to admit it.

Rachel is hiding something and everyone knows it. Brad’s father is on the FBI’s most wanted list and his family fled the United States leaving him behind in an effort not to derail his life.  Both of them are angry and bitter with the world but together they stand a chance at happiness.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.

Saving BradSaving Brad (The Kennedy Boys #5)
By Siobhan Davis
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age category: New Adult
Release Date: October 2017

Blurb:
An enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis. Standalone with an HEA and no cliff-hanger.

Brad
I’m in love with my best friend’s girl.
She knows it. He knows it. Everyone knows it.
Faye will never be mine, but try telling that to my stupid heart.
An endless rotation of girls streams in and out of my bedroom in a desperate attempt to forget her, but nothing eases the horrid ache in my chest. Rejection isn’t anything new for me, but it hasn’t gotten any easier.
Until she reappears in my life. Like an out-of-control tornado. Storming in, all fierce and angry, ready to steamroll everything in her path. Rachel is trouble with a capital T bundled in a gorgeous, sexy, Irish package.
She pushes all the wrong buttons, and I can’t decide if I want to yell at her or kiss her.
I should steer clear.
But I’ve never been very good at taking my own advice. Especially when it comes to girls I can’t have and shouldn’t want.

Rachel
I need to escape.
To put as much distance between me and that monster so I can start living my life.
Yet, even the vast Atlantic Ocean isn’t enough to sever the connection. To allow me to forget how he’s ruined me. His hold is more than just physical. He has a vise-grip on my head and my heart, and I can’t breathe, can’t think, can’t function.
So, I do everything to blot it out.
Until he reappears in my life.
Brad McConaughey. So hot. So infuriating. So in love with my best friend.
Every word out of Brad’s mouth makes me want to throat punch him or kick him in the nuts.
But he makes me feel, and I hate him for it. A part of me might actually love him for it.
I should keep my distance, but like destructive magnets, we are drawn together.
This isn’t going to end well.
I know it. He knows it.
But we’re powerless to resist.

Excerpt:
That guy is such an asshole. He’s the only potential blimp in this otherwise stellar plan of mine. I honestly can’t fathom how Kyler has been best friends with Brad since kindergarten. How they’re practically like brothers, according to Faye. Brad has a major chip on his shoulder, and he doesn’t seem to care who knows it. Well, I came here to get away from that kind of shite and no one is going to drag me back to the gutter. Not even a guy as fit as Brad.
The guys are leading the charge in front of us, giving me ample opportunity to ogle the asshole without his knowledge. My eyes drop from his broad shoulders and muscular back—which flexes and rolls under his clingy shirt as he moves—to his shapely ass, and I have to fight the urge to jump him from behind. There is no denying how utterly gorgeous Brad McConaughey is. With his cropped blond hair, stunning blue eyes framed by lashes that should be illegal on a guy, and the chiseled lines of his tanned face, Brad is temptation on a stick. He has that all-American golden boy good looks I used to swoon over when I was younger. He’s like the US equivalent of Niall Horan, albeit a moodier, crankier version. Not that I know Niall Horan personally or anything, but he always comes across as a total sweetheart. Looks, talent, humor, intelligence, and a good heart. A winning combination if ever there was one. Although, I’m kind of protective over our homegrown talent, so I might be biased.
Faye digs her elbows in my ribs, breaking through my inner Niall swooning. “Were you even listening to me?”
“Nope.” I grin at her, linking my arm more firmly through hers. “I was just daydreaming about Niall Horan.”
“Random dot com.”
I snort. “I was thinking that Brad could be like the US Niall Horan if he wasn’t such an ass.”
Quick as a flash, Brad spins around, eyeballing me with a smirk. “You think I look like Niall Horan? All the ladies love Niall, or so I’ve been told.”
“And your point is?”
We come to a standstill in front of Kyler’s car.
“The ladies love me too, Red. And I think you have an inkling why.”
He winks, and it’s so wrong.
All of it.
The sleazy comment, the sly reminder that he’s been inside me, and the shady wink. I often get a sense with Brad that he’s playing a part. A role he’s not entirely comfortable with, which is why he can’t pull it off most of the time.

Today is the cover and blurb reveal for Loving Kalvin by Siobhan Davis! This cover reveal is organized by Lola's Blog Tours.

Loving KalvinLoving Kalvin (The Kennedy Boys #4)
By Siobhan Davis
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age category: upper Young Adult/ New Adult
Release Date: July 2017

Blurb:
A second-chance romance from USA Today bestseller Siobhan Davis. Standalone with HEA and no cliffhanger.

Lana
I knew it would end in disaster, but I didn’t listen to reason. I didn’t care. Because I loved him so much.

Kalvin Kennedy ruled my heart.

Until he destroyed it.

Shattered it so completely that I became someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her loved ones.

So, I ran.

From him. From myself. Desperate to hide my new reality.

But I could only run so far.

When he reappears in my life, I’m terrified. Unbelievably scared of facing the consequences of my actions.

Never mind that I still love him and want him so badly—there’s too much at stake now.

How can I trust him with the biggest secret of all when he’s likely to rip my world apart again?

Kalvin
Lana was always far too good for me. Everyone knew it but her.

I tried to stay away, but I was weak.

And I hurt her.

Crushed her until she barely resembled herself. Forced her to follow a path she would never have willingly chosen.

And then she was gone.

And my world has never felt as empty, as lonely.

She begged me to stay away. Not to find her. To forget she ever existed.

But that’s like asking me to slice my heart in two and toss half aside.

I’ve never believed in fate, but when I rock up to the University of Florida, I’m ready to eat my words.

Because she’s here. Like I hoped she would be. And I’m determined to prove I deserve a second chance.

My Mother's Day

On Thursday the littles and I made cards for their parents and planted a cute little succulent for them to take care of.

H and B were so excited to give their mommies their presents. It was seriously adorable and so much fun doing this for them.

This was Squish's finished card for me. I think I may have a little Picasso on my hands.

Later that day when Turtle got home from Pre-k he gave me this sweet little card and necklace he made at school.

Seriously adorable right? My first of many school made Mother's Day presents and cards I am sure. I will totally admit, I got a little teary eyed when I opened it and read the card.

On Saturday we went down to visit my in-laws after they got settled back into their home after being gone for six months.

Squish was so excited that she was able to play the slot machine at Grandma and PopPop's house. These kids have missed their Grandparents so much.

Then we headed over to my Dad's to drop off my step-mom's Mother's Day present and found out that my Dad had to work all day the next day. So did my husband, so we "kidnapped" her for the night so we could spend our Mother's Day together.

It was a great day. We woke up and went to the Kennewick Eagles for a yummy breakfast that they were hosting for Mom's. We each got a free breakfast and a carnation from them for being mom's. Then we went and got a coffee where we each received another flower. This time a Rose. Thank you Roasters for giving us each a flower with our coffee.

The rest of the day we just hung out with the kids, played in the back yard, did some house work and yard work. You know - normal stuff.

At least until my husband came home. Riot gave me my Mother's Day present and told me to pack a bag and have a night off.

A night off? You sure as heck do not have to tell me twice. So Kathy and I packed back up, went to Shari's for dinner (where they gave us another rose) and drove back over to my Dad's house.

We stayed up way to late talking and watching Outlander - but it was a nice night off, one I very much needed.

Hello

In June it will be 2 years since I had my hysterectomy and this last March it was a year since I left my job at Amazon.

My thoughts on leaving my job at Amazon:

It was bitter sweet. As much as I looked forward and enjoy being a stay at home mom, I miss my team mates, connections and people that were apart of this amazing company. If it was possible for me to work from home I would have gladly done so.

Through them I got to crochet hats for preemie babies and domestic abuse babies/children, help make a community garden, I was on the fun committee, and safety committee. I worked in MayDay and in the Digital space and was working towards being in the Social space. I never expected to like working in a call center as much as I did for Amazon. I know I would go back in a heart beat if I ever get the chance too.

My Thoughts on my hysterectomy:

As ready as I was for it to happen. Finding out why it had to happen really hit me. As most of you know I had been in pain for a good year after having an emergency cesarean with my Squishy girl and we all thought it was my PCOS.  Turns out that, that was just a small factor of what was going on with me.

After the doctor went in and removed my uterus we found out that during my cesarean with Squish, the doctor who performed the cesarean, had cut both my uterus and bladder causing them to fuse together. It created scar tissue and every time I moved or tried to stand up straight, or even the simple act of breathing, was causing me immense amount of pain.

My uterus was mostly healthy. It was found that I did have Endometrial Hyperplasia. Endometrial Hyperplasia occurs when teh endometrium, the lining of the uterus, becomes too thick. It is not cancer, but in some cases, it can lead to cancer of the uterus.

It has taken me some time to be okay with both of these things. Know that my doctor who was save my daughters life screwed up a surgery her performed all the time, is upsetting. Although knowing that my uterus lining was becoming too thick and what that could have meant for me in the future, my botched cesarean was a blessing in disguise.

In no way am I saying that it should have happened in the first place, but the fact that it did and it lead up to my hysterectomy, and an unexpected preventative measure against uterus cancer, has me breathing a sigh of relief.

Especially when there is so much to look forward to this year and all the years to come.
